Fair Trade organisation, KATAKUS, led the World Fair Trade Day celebrations in Davao on 09 May 09, in conjunction with APFTI, World Fair Trade Organisation-Philippines, Davao City Tourism Office and the City Government of Davao. "The World Fair Trade Day celebration at the People's Park wasn't a speech-ridden affair but more of a cultural show, with the purple-clad Kaliwad Theatre Collective belting out songs and performing dances charged with sentiments of hope for a better life amidst pressing global issues", said Ms Adi Guisido. 09 May 09 - a day of global drumming for Fair Trade! The sound of drums could be heard echoing down the halls of Eastwood Mall, Libis, Quezon City - attracting shoppers to the "4 Inspirations" fair trade fair. There were performances, product demonstrations and coloring-in contest to keep supporters and consumers entertained. Well done and thank you to all who were involved - Foundation of Sustainable Societies, Philippine Fair Trade Forum, partner producers, advocates and producers. Special thanks to bands Makiling, Krakatoom, Lakbay Lahi, Talahib, Syalam and Kadangyan for giving us a Big Bang.
